Where She Belongs
This is my daughter at Leo Carrillo State Beach. The sun going down, the rocks, the water, and her, lit up from the inside.
That joy. That's why I do what I do.
It's what keeps me pushing. Because she deserves this as much as I do.
This community gave both of us a place to belong. The people here are warm. They're kind. They lead with open hearts.
I've been able to let my guard down here. Not weighed by the past. Free to define myself, here, on my own terms.
So much of that happens in friendship. On my walks with my friends every week, we connect about the life we chose. Because when you live here, you choose it. Malibu is a small town. It's an iconic global destination, yes. But it's a small town.
And that's exactly what Malibu Soul is. It's what inspires it. It's light. It's sun. It's soul.
It's art. It's creativity. There's a reason so many artists and creatives have made Malibu their home. It's a place where you can be free. And in freedom comes creation. Where the surf sounds loudly.
So when I look at this picture, I see all of it. My daughter, free. The sun setting over the water. And the promise that it rises again tomorrow.
That's home. That's what I'm building here, for her, for me, and for you.
